This studio where this silk textile was created uses the natural yellow silk from a specific cocoon, which provides a natural look with some texture. It is predominantly in vibrant red with complex motifs in red, olive, navy and ivory adorning the ends. Long knotted silk tassels in the colors of the motifs are sewn into the end of the silk.The beautiful natural colors were achieved in a time consuming process using extract from indigo, lacquer, Burmese mahogany tree, and the bark of the Indian trumpet flower tree.
