This rare vintage hand woven silk and cotton textile is from Laos where the tradition of silk weaving is centuries old, a skill passed from one generation to the next. It is from Xiang Khouang, north-eastern Laos, and is about 80 years old. The elephant motifs were hand woven on a wooden loom and symbolize strength and wisdom in Laotian culture.
